Free State

The Free State province is not well endowed with Bass fishing spots but we are constantly looking so keep watching this space.

The Vaal Dam is located mainly within the Free State although it borders on Gauteng as well as Mpumalanga and the North West  so it has been included here. Not a well known Bass fishing lake, but it is huge, the 3rd largest lake in South Africa, the Vaal has come to the attention of Bass anglers recently.

Other Bass waters in the province are the large and ultra clear Sterkfontein and Saulspoort Dam, near the town of Bethlehem which is as small as the Vaal is large. All though have one thing in common, they offer decent fishing for Largemouth Bass.

Sterkfontein Dam Sterkfontein dam, close to Harrismith is one of the biggest bodies of water in S.A and is reasonably unknown to Bass anglers. More info . . .

Vaal Dam

Vaal Dam One of the largest impoundments in South Africa, the Vaal Dam has appeared on the Bass fishing map recently. More info . . .
